Leadership Tips
Pulling Together

Have you ever tried rowing a boat? A novice may become frustrated with the effort required to keep the boat traveling in a straight line. Every time you pull on the oars, one seems to pull a little harder, turning the boat off course. As the boat slowly gains momentum, the job becomes easier. With a little practice, the once awkward effort becomes a natural process, smoothly propelling the boat across the water.
Just as successful rowing requires coordination, developing a culture of character in your organization requires cooperation with others. It may require some patient, determined effort at the beginning, but the reward far outweighs the difficulty.
Which way are you pulling? Are you doing all you can to encourage those around you to focus on developing good character?
